AName ... Adoptive Name - given to child at time of adoption by adoptive parents.
Aparents or Apars ... Adoptive parents
Asib ... Adoptive Sibling. Not usually blood related.

BDad ... Birth dad
Bdau ... Birth daughter
BFam ... Birth family
Birth Index ... (BI) State list of those born on a given day - only a few have one available.

BN ... Bastard Nation - known for work to open birth certificates
Bname ... Birth name - name given by birth mom at birth and on Original Birth Certificate.
BMA ... Black Market Adoption - illegal adoption. There were periods of time in some states where the problem was particularly bad.

LDA ... Late Discovery Adoptee - Older when found out they had been adopted.
Mutual Consent Registry ... Agreement by both parties to know each other - by registering on a Mutual Consent Registry you agree to meet and know the other person.
NAIC ... National Adoption Information Clearinghouse - Sponsored by the federal government
NAR ... Not Adoption Related - used on adoption mailing lists
NCFA ... National Committee for Adoption - Against all attempts to open records or allow adoptees to receive their original BC.
Non-ID Info ... Non-identifying information - has no names, just general information about birth parents or adoptive parents. May contain information such as: ages, nationalities, occupations, general description and more.
OBC ... Original Birth Certificate - Issued at birth. Hard to get, impossible in some states. Has birth name and birth parents names
Obit ... Obituary - also called a Death Notice.
PI ... Private Investigator
POA ... Place of Adoption
Polk Directory ... City Directory - also called a Criss Cross Directory
POB ... Place of Birth
Search Angel .. someone who has access to databases and does look-ups for free or at a minimal fee.
Sib ... Sibling - Used with A or B in front as in Adoptive sibling, Birth sibling. (see above)
SSDI ... Social Security Death Index
Triad ... Birth families, adoptees, adoptive families
UAA ... Uniform Adoption Act - Strives to close adoption records for 99 years.
